ABOUT TRFC
Our Story
The Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club opened its doors in 1967 as a private club with 3 tennis courts, a small clubhouse and a junior Olympic pool. With a vision to offer its members a safe and healthy environment for families to exercise, play tennis and gather, the club has become a Tucson tradition and is still owned by the founding family.
History
1970’s
The club grew to 32 tennis courts and became the premier tennis club of southern Arizona hosting tournaments for some of the greatest tennis players of the 1970’s. The racquetball building was added housing 12 racquetball courts and space for indoor fitness classes and the clubhouse expanded to include a restaurant and upstairs bar.
1980’s
An aerobics building was added at the north end of the pool and the previous space in the racquetball building became a first-class weight room.
1990’s
A second lap pool was added as well as sand volleyball courts and an outdoor basketball court.
2000’s
The club invested in sustainability and added solar panels. It consists of (6) SMA inverters with each having 36 photovoltaic panels connected to it, resulting in a total of 216 TRINA Solar 235 watt panels. All outdoor tennis and pickleball lights were converted to LED lighting for energy saving and better distribution of light for play.
Most recently, we are renovating 12 tennis courts and adding 10 pickleball courts to post tension concrete. We will have 27 tennis and 22 pickleball courts which makes our facility the biggest for tennis and pickleball in Southern Arizona.
