The Junior Elite Program is designed for the committed player. A player in this program has lofty national ranking goals, wants to earn collegiate scholarships and enjoys the challenge of training the necessary hours to achieve these goals. Acceptance into this program is by invitation only. The ranking requirements are top 700 nationally, top 100 in Southwest on www.tennisrecruiting.net, and a minimum Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 6.
The Tucson Racquet Club is proud to offer the finest tennis instruction in the Southwest. Our senior staff includes: Brian Ramirez, Gretchen Schantz, Tad Berkowitz, Sara Kaufman, and more. Click here to learn more about our Tennis Pros.
The Elite Program is designed for the total development of a top junior tennis player. Private lessons provide individual attention. Tournaments trips are scheduled throughout the year to provide coaching and match analysis. The daily program entails two hours of drills, fitness three days a week, and includes supervised competitive match-play.
Excellence students participate in a weekly program consisting of:
One Hour Private LessonIndividual strokes and styles of play are emphasized specific to the students needs.
Drill ClinicInstructor controlled drills are used to polish existing strokes, develop movement, and create play situations. An outstanding instructor-to-player ratio assures plenty of individual attention.
Team PracticeTeam practice will emphasize different skills than the drill clinic. Live ball drills, structured games and play situations will be used to develop play strategies and court sense.
Match-PlayStudents apply what they learned in lessons and clinics to real match situations. Match-play is organized and closely monitored by Brian and other staff members.
The Elite Program will focus on fitness 3 times a week. Sessions will vary from footwork drills, circuit training, injury prevention.
Getting a Lesson Time
Please contact your pro as soon as possible to confirm your lesson time. Times will be given out on the following priorities: 1) you have first choice on keeping last year’s time 2) returning students who wish to change times 3) new students.
Clinics canceled because of weather will be rescheduled if needed (we have 4 days set aside for rain and tournament misses factored into the cost of the program). If you miss clinic for your own reasons there is no makeup (ie. sickness or minor injury). A full staff is always maintained at clinics. Private lessons must be made up. The Club has a 24 hour cancellation policy that will be enforced!
